  1. The trade union committee distributes preferential vouchers and tickets for all sorts of events. Enjoy! Many students do not even know that they can get something in the trade union committee. This means that more will go to those who are not too lazy to go on reconnaissance.
  1. Do not be too lazy to find out about all the benefits that a student is entitled to. They cover travel, free admission to some museums, etc. Regularly monitor changes in legislation regarding student benefits.
  1. Think about how you can earn. Load wagons? Wash floors? During the holidays, you can join the student team, participate in the construction of some spaceport. True, they say that this year, due to financial difficulties, students were paid less than they expected. In any case, work should not interfere with studies. We do not have restrictions on the work of students, as in Europe (where a student can only work a certain number of hours per week), so calculate your strength yourself.

About health, order, dress code and rest

  1. Take care of your liver. Forget about the stereotypical idea of ​​a student as a perpetually thumping creature. At least if you are going to live to the second year, and even more so - to the fifth.
  1. Make friends with physical education. Do not skip a couple of physical exercises, sign up additionally for a gym, swimming pool, yoga or fitness. Physical activity not only improves health and helps maintain normal weight, but also improves brain activity.

  1. Find out where the cafes and canteens are, where the food is better and where it is cheaper. This, of course, is in case there are several of them in the building and nearby. In order not to be late for lectures and not stand in a wild queue, find out not only the opening hours, but also the time when the influx of hungry subsides.

A curious situation is emerging - there are millions of students in the country, most of them experience the same problems and difficulties from year to year, and there is practically no information on how to deal with them on the Web. A dozen pages found through Google enlighten students on how to properly prepare for exams and talk to a teacher - that's all! As if student life is limited to exams… Rather, on the contrary, exams occupy a very insignificant place in a student’s life: “Students live happily from session to session.”

Therefore, writing an article about how to achieve success in a university and in general how to make sure that five (someone has six) years of study does not go down the drain is simply necessary.

Let's get started.

Tip number zero. I'm starting from scratch, because the advice is addressed to high school graduates and applicants. Usually, at the end of the 11th grade, schoolchildren get into a natural fever: pass the final exams (well, the Unified State Examination), squeeze into the university ... The motto of these days is “just to enter, it doesn’t matter where.” This is an extremely harmful and wrong approach. At the age of 17, few people think about the importance of choosing a place of study - but in vain, because it has a strong effect on the rest of their lives. Therefore, I invite applicants (if they are reading the article) to answer a few questions:

1. Why am I going to enter this university? .What do I expect from my studies?

2. What will I do after graduation? How will the knowledge or acquaintances that I received at this university help me in my studies?

3. Where would I begin to enter if I knew exactly what I would do?

4. Where should I go, given my answers to the previous three questions?

tip number one. So, you entered a university, studied there for the first week, no longer confuse the names and patronymics of teachers and are aware of where you can intercept a piece between couples. Wonderful! Now it's time to stop and think. For simplicity, here are the questions again:

1. What has changed in my attitude towards this university? What new (and important) did I learn about him?

2. What can this university give me in terms of knowledge? How and where are its graduates settled?

3. What can this university give me besides knowledge? Dating and connections? Social work experience? The start of a scientific career?

It is important that you answer these questions as early as possible and determine the main thing as honestly as possible: how studying here relates to yours. Very often, a student comes to the realization that he slightly missed the mark when choosing a university or faculty. Very often he understands that study is futile. Do not hide from such thoughts. You should always be fully aware of the situation.

Tip number two. Your further actions depend on the answer to the questions in the previous paragraph. Here are some of the most likely routes:

Situation A: you understand that studying at this university can really give you enough practical and theoretical knowledge, in senior years, students do internships and practices in good organizations and it definitely makes sense to study here. Well, then it's simple. Choose the subjects you will need for work after graduation and understand them well. On the rest, pay exactly as much attention as necessary so that there are no extra “tails”.

Situation B: Everything is exactly the opposite.

- if you spent a lot of time (you found that the university does not suit you in the 1st year) - enter another. Better to lose a year than 5.

- if the time has passed in order, then perhaps changing the place of study will not be too reasonable.

Tip number three. What to do if the university does not suit you, and it is too late to change it?

At one time (unfortunately, it was already in the 4th year ...) I sketched out for myself the following program of action:

1. Minimize the loss of time at the university.

2. Squeeze out everything you can from your native university, since you can’t get good knowledge.

3. Forget that I am a student and find myself another, more useful thing, to which I will devote maximum time and effort.

4. To perceive studying at the university as a training of ingenuity (to take exams without preparation), (to persuade especially evil teachers to let go of the class) and (to sit on compulsory classes).

All this, in principle, turned out well for me. Here are some examples.

Time Loss Minimization:

  • at the beginning of the semester, I made a rating of teachers - how much you can skip without consequences - and skipped accordingly;
  • having a little cold, I ran to the clinic, made tired eyes and complained of weakness - and as a result I received the coveted certificate, allowing me to do my own thing for a week or two;
  • unlike lectures, I attended seminars carefully and talked to them without shutting up - which, with some skill, is quite simple. In teachers, the “active student” lever clicked in their heads and it became easy to press the “set the machine” button;
  • in my fifth year (late, late ...) I did a little study, as it is now called, social activities- there was another great excuse for all occasions.

Squeezing everything you can out of the university:

  • increased scholarship - of course (automatic machines and a beautiful record book helped);
  • trip to the south
  • acquaintances and connections.

Over the last two courses, I also worked in places 6-7, snatched off a dozen certificates and diplomas in various competitions outside the university, managed to start (and fail, which is natural) my kind of business project, as well as “pump”, the ability to communicate and public speaking, time management. The only thing I regret is that I started truancy too late and was an exemplary student for too long. That would start the course on the second! Eh!
