However, the set of subjects in specialized classes is strictly regulated by the curriculum and does not fully meet the needs of schoolchildren in studying the desired subjects that are not included in the list of specialized ones. For example, English language is now in demand in any field, and it is possible to study it in depth only within the framework of humanitarian profile. The division of the Unified State Examination in Mathematics into basic and profile levels has improved the results of the capital's schoolchildren, the Moscow City News Agency reports with reference to the head of the Federal Commission for Developers of Control Measurement Materials (KIM) of the Unified State Exam in mathematics, director of the Moscow Center for Pedagogical Excellence, Ivan Yashchenko .

“It is already clear that, in general, the results of the guys have improved, and this is very noticeable in the wake of an honest exam. Now we can say that the figures that we have, they really reflect the level of knowledge of the guys,” said Yashchenko.

According to him, thanks to the division of the Unified State Examination in mathematics, the psychological burden on graduates has significantly decreased.

“It is very important that it was done very gently for the graduate, if someone did not understand something, then they can pass both mathematics. If you mistakenly chose profile mathematics, confusing it with basic mathematics, and got a “two” for it, then you could choose a level for retake. This ceases to create a feeling of mathematical inferiority in the student,” the director emphasized.

Since 2015, the USE in mathematics has been divided into two levels - basic and specialized. The basic exam is taken by graduates who go to specialties where mathematics is not a core subject or do not plan to enter universities. The profile exam is intended for those graduates for whom mathematics is one of the university entrance exams.

The basic USE includes 20 tasks and is evaluated on a five-point scale.

The profile exam consists of two parts and contains 21 tasks. Of these, nine are basic level, the rest are advanced and high. At the same time, 14 tasks require a short form from the student in the form of a number, fraction, and so on, in seven, a detailed solution is required. To pass the exam, you must score at least 27 points out of 100. Four hours are allotted to complete the tasks.

At the end of July, the press center Federal Service on Supervision in Education and Science reported that the Scientific and Methodological Council for Mathematics, created at the Federal Institute of Pedagogical Measurements, recognized as effective the division of the unified state exam in mathematics into basic and specialized levels.

From 1 to 16 tasks are relatively simple, from 17 to 20 - in terms of complexity, they can be compared with the profile level. In addition, basic-level tasks do not require a detailed description of the solution.

What is a profile level?

  • Profile mathematics must be taken by those students who need it at the university. Parts B and C, which frightened schoolchildren, were canceled in 2015, the tasks have the usual numbering.
  • The work consists of 19 tasks. They are divided into two parts for convenience. The first part contains 8 relatively simple tasks with a short answer, they can be correlated with basic mathematics. The second part contains 11 tasks of increased and high complexity.   • Tasks 9 - 12 are of an increased level of complexity and require a short answer. Hint: The answer must contain either a trailing decimal or an integer.
  • Tasks 13 - 19 have a high level of complexity and require a detailed answer. Hint: the solution may be incomplete, the main thing is that it be correct, then there is a chance to get at least some points for the task.

  • Carefully check the solution, especially in tasks where a short answer is needed.
  • First solve a few tasks and only then proceed to the test.
  • The estimated time for solving each task is from 1 to 12 to 10 minutes, that is, they do not require super complex calculations and applications of 10 formulas.
  • Do not be afraid of complex formulations, they are often found in the tasks of the second part. Thinking, you will successfully solve them. There is nothing in the exam that goes beyond the scope of the school curriculum.
  • Fill out the form carefully. Tasks 1 to 12 are checked by the program and it doesn't care that 3 reminds you of 8, and 1 to 4. Tasks 13-19 are checked by experts.
  • Make a detailed decision so that the course of your thoughts is clear to a stranger.

Unlike basic mathematics, profile mathematics is evaluated on a 100-point scale. For now minimum score- 27, but closer to the exams the situation may change.

What mathematics is needed in high school?

If mathematics is indicated in the list of entrance tests, you will need to take a profile level. Keep in mind that this clarification is not in all regulations on the admission of applicants, it is considered that this is a well-known fact. Even if you passed the basic mathematics with the maximum score, in admission committee this result will not be accepted.
