Rating of the best Russian schools

The leader of the ranking of the 200 best schools in the country (giving the largest number of students for the strongest Russian universities) for the third year it becomes Lyceum No. 1580 at the Moscow State Technical University named after N. E. Bauman. In addition to him, the top 10 included educational institutions in five regions: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sverdlovsk, Novosibirsk and Tomsk regions. The largest share of graduates enrolled in the leading universities of the country is at the school named after A.N. Kolmogorov (at Moscow State University). Such data was received by the RAEX agency (RAEX-Analytics), which prepared the rating for the third time. In addition, for the first time, a list of the top 50 schools in terms of the competitiveness of graduates (having the greatest chance of entering the best universities).

The rating of 200 schools answered the question: which educational institutions prepare the largest number of students for the best universities in Russia (universities were determined by another annual study of the same agency). Lyceum No. 1580 took the first place, Specialized educational and scientific center(SUNTS) Moscow State University. Next come school No. 2095 "Pokrovsky Quarter", pre-university of NRNU MEPhI, SUNC of Novosibirsk state university. The top 10 schools also included the SSC of the Ural Federal University (Ekaterinburg), the Presidential Physics and Mathematics Lyceum No. 239 (St. polytechnic university(Tomsk).

The study showed that the largest number of students for the best universities in the country is provided by the schools operating under them. Moreover, the majority of graduates, as a rule, enter the "parent" institute. So, in 2016, 70% of graduates of Lyceum No. 1580 at the Moscow State Technical University named after M.V. N.E. Bauman, 62% - SSC MSU, 59% - SSC NSU, 45% - Pre-University MEPhI. 60% of graduates of school No. 2095 "Pokrovsky Quarter" entered the National Research University Higher School of Economics, with which they are in partnership.

The orientation of graduates of schools at universities to the "mother" educational institution is a good trend. These students are already related to academic education, and it is quite logical that they are trying to continue it, - says Vice-Rector of the RANEPA Maxim Nazarov.

More than half of the places in the top twenty are occupied by schools with a physical and mathematical or natural science bias. According to the authors of the rating, this is due to the fact that graduates of such schools can enter not only technical, but also popular economic specialties.

Physical and mathematical schools, which flourished in the 70-80s of the last century, back in the Soviet Union, retain their leading positions in terms of the quality of education (this is the famous Kolmogorov boarding school, the 2nd and 57th Moscow schools), - said " Izvestiya, Director of the Center for Economics continuing education IPEI RANEPA Tatyana Klyachko. - They retain the quality of teaching that allowed the USSR to lead the world in training physicists, mathematicians and engineers. And the established traditions turned out to be very strong. The orientation of graduates of strong physical and mathematical schools to enter the economic areas of training has been preserved, despite all the talk about the overproduction of economists. It is worth noting that many Nobel Prize winners in economics were mathematicians by education: Koopmans, Arrow, Debre, Kantorovich, Nash, and others.

Exactly half of the best schools in the country are located in Moscow. The authors of the rating explain this by the fact that it is in the capital that the concentration of the leading higher educational institutions(11 out of 20 top universities are located here).

In development modern school great importance has a cultural and educational environment, including the presence of leading universities in the region. That is why schools in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Tomsk, the country's leading university centers, are in the lead in the ranking, Tatyana Klyachko explained.

Experts also note the influence of the economic factor on the statistics of admission to universities. Maxim Nazarov reminded about the paid admission to universities, which was taken into account when compiling the rating. Here, the solvency of the population is of key importance. This is partly why there are so many Moscow schools in the ranking - in the capital region, incomes are higher than in many others.

The issue of admission to the leading universities of the country is actually much deeper. This is a merit not only of the school, but also of the family, - the head of the Center for Monitoring the Quality of Education of the Institute explained to Izvestia education NRU HSE Viktor Bolotov. - There are star schools in any major city. But most of their graduates go to colleges in their region because they can't afford the expensive living in Moscow or St. Petersburg. Most often, educational migrants come from families with a high socioeconomic status. As well as students of schools presented in the ranking. All these educational institutions are, of course, selective: they select strong children from prosperous families. In addition, 90% of the parents of students in such schools are people with higher education, which also determines family wealth.

For educational migrants, higher educational institutions of St. Petersburg are most attractive (they accepted 58% of students from other regions, not counting the Leningrad region) and Tomsk (55%). While in the best metropolitan universities the share of visitors is much lower (37%).

In total, the rating includes schools from 33 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The Krasnoyarsk Territory is widely represented (15 schools, 7%), Sverdlovsk region(12 schools, 6%), St. Petersburg and Tatarstan (10 schools each, 5% each). Novosibirsk region is represented by seven schools (4%), Tomsk - by four (2%).

In 2017, RAEX for the first time analyzed the success of schools in terms of the competitiveness of graduates. The first five places in this list were taken by the Specialized Educational and Scientific Center of Moscow State University (Moscow), Lyceum "Second School" (Moscow), Lyceum of Scientific and Engineering profile of the city of Korolev, Presidential Lyceum No. 239 (St. Petersburg), Lyceum at TPU. Most of the graduates of these schools managed to enter the best universities in the country on a free basis. The list of 50 schools also includes educational institutions of those regions where there are no top universities. These are the Yugra Physics and Mathematics Boarding School (Khanty-Mansiysk), the Vologda Multidisciplinary Lyceum, the Republican Lyceum for Gifted Children (Saransk), Ufa Lyceum No. 153, Obninsk Gymnasium and Perm School No. 146 with in-depth study of mathematics, physics, computer science.

Experts emphasize that the presented ratings consider schools in one context - by the degree of success in the university environment.

- In Russia, receiving higher education became a social norm. More than 80% of school graduates enter higher educational institutions, and the admission of graduates of the best Russian schools has long been one hundred percent, - said Tatyana Klyachko.

However, in Lately the role of the middle vocational education(SPO). Maxim Nazarov noted that in colleges at the RANEPA this year there was a greater demand for open vocational education than in the previous year, especially in Moscow. At the same time, it cannot be said that unsuccessful and the weakest students go to secondary education. And there are quite successful schools, whose graduates are not focused on entering top universities, but the quality of education in them is no worse than in those that are in the rating.

Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets and Minister of Education and Science Olga Vasilyeva on Wednesday, October 4, presented 2017, which included 500 educational institutions, including 156 from Moscow

Moscow medium educational school number 179 took third place in the rating of schools in Russia, losing to lyceums from St. Petersburg and Saransk. In total, 13 educational institutions from Moscow were included.
